Huntingdon Public School is tackling the challenge of updating computer equipment for student learning with an application to computer giant Hewlett-Packard for a $10,000 grant aimed explicitly at fostering STEM learning through exploration of virtual environments, 3D printing and robotics programming.

Students, parents and staff from the tiny school, just West of Wauchope, united several weeks ago to act out a script on camera and showcase just how the grant might be put to good use at Huntingdon. School principal Peta Harris is delighted that their creative and humous approach and the students excellent acting won the grant with the good news arriving from HP this week.

This was an opportunity that was most definitely a team effort, driven largely by 2 of our parents, Mrs Kathleen Hayden and Mrs Sue Troth. Our students were real, live professional actors for a day, directed by award-winning visual story-teller Paddy McCann while also learning all about the film industry, camera angles and filming etiquette. The morning of filming was filled with much laughter and we couldn't be prouder of the end result. Whether we were successful in achieving this grant or not, this was an amazing opportunity for our students, a fun and engaging learning experience and an absolute delight to be a part of.

Huntingdon P&C recently raised over $14000 to support Huntingdon Public School in establishing a technology learning centre within the school. Now that school has won the $10 000 grant, it will further support and inspire students and staff alike with the very latest in printing and robotics equipment.

Peta Harris commended everyone involved saying "One of the best things about our school is the willingness of our parents, students, staff and community to work together to provide an outstanding learning environment for all of our students!
